About me

Hi! I am David Zhang, a freelance English-Chinese interpreter and translator living in Guangzhou, South China. I earned my first degree (BA) in linguistics from the Guangdong University of Foreign Studies and a second degree in Business Administration (MBA) from Columbia Southern University , USA.  As a native speaker of Mandarin, I learned to speak English with near native fluency and an American accent. I am also fluent in Cantonese, a dialect of Chinese spoken by people in Guangdong, Hong Kong, Macau and among overseas Chinese.

Over the past decade, I have been working as a freelance interpreter and translator besides working full-time for several multinational companies in China. My experience covers industries such as food, information technology, building materials, education and training as well as international trade. My experience in translation and interpretation extends to a variety of areas such as business administration, manufacturing, legal, information technology, computer, quarrying, building materials, international trade and machinery.  Since 2000, I have been translating articles for China's leading IT portal http://www.enet.com.cn and most of my articles are published in its IT news section http://www.enews.com.cn .  You may also visit the following web sites for samples of my translation. Qualifications

• Native language is Mandarin, speak Cantonese with native fluency.

• Strong business background, extensive experience in translating marketing/advertising materials, financial reports, brochures, web sites, and contracts etc.

   Extensive experiences in interpreting at business negotiations and MBA course lectures/Training workshops (consecutive and simultaneous)

• Well versed in business administration and information technology.

• 5 years of full-time study of English.
